If not, the previous model is still available at the market. If you think these updates are the ones missing in the best e-bike ride, 200$ seems like a fair amount to give. While the previous RadCity model had a price tag of 1,599$, the RadCity 5 Plus comes at 1,799$. PriceĪll the updates in the torque and hydraulic disc brakes comes with a price. Although RadPower is known to invest in accessories developing extensively, it was good to have the USB charger as a standard. Another thing compromised in the new model is the USB charger coming as a standard -it’s now available as an extra. What are other updates? The suspension fork still goes well in my opinion, although it seems that it has dropped from 80 mm to 60 mm, which is more convenient for a city e-bike. The setting to control them is also handled in a very user-friendly way. While the screen at the center provides all the usual information you need such as speed and power, the left bar screen is here with the rest: battery level, pedal assist setting, headlight indicator, etc. There are actually two displays sported in this e-bike, which I likes though there are more things to deal with from the bars. The display is another dimension updated on the new RadCity. You can go at speeds at 20 miles per hour, which can hardly be considered fast, but given the speed limits of Class 2, it is OK. ![]() When it comes to range, RadCity 5 Plus gives around 25 miles on throttle and 40 miles on pedal assist mode. The difference here is the design sporting an aluminum shell locating on down tube of the frame, hiding the battery well as well as providing more room for legs or bags and accessories. The 48V 14Ah for 672 Wh battery has the same capacity with the previous model. ![]() ![]() The hydraulic brake levers of RadCity 5 Plus are also adjustable to hands in various sizes. Besides, the hydraulic lines replacing the old cable pulls also saves you time and energy of dealing with cable stretch. The upgraded ceramic brake pads in this model is more durable, meaning you won’t have to replace them every now and then. The hydraulic disc brakes of RadCity 5 Plus is probably the best upgrade with this model. The only minus is that the regenerative braking is missing in the new motor. Although the wattage is the same it is more capable of faster uphill climbing in both pedal assist and throttle only mode. This becomes apparent even from the new motor: The 750W brushless geared hub motor with 5:1 planetary gear reduction has higher torque than the direct drive motor of the previous RadCity model. The RadCity 5 Plus is probably the most different one amongst other updates in the RadCity line. RadPower always makes good, affordable commuter e-bikes under RadCity line, but RadCity 5 Plus has numerous new features to be tried.
